The D Word in Church

I said the “d” word in church last Sunday.

I was sitting in Elders Quorum in my cousin Bryce’s ward and the teacher was handing out candy to those who answered the questions correctly. The question was, “Who do you know of in church history who was particularly valiant?” I wanted to answer Joseph Smith and everyone was answering stupidly. So , I was raising my hand and then the teacher called on someone else and he said, “Joseph Smith” and then I said, “D*mmit!”.

Everyone looked at me and I started to laugh really hard. Bryce started laughing, too. And then everyone else did. It was a pretty funny/almost embarrassing moment. But, it was more funny than embarrassing.

Other than that, my life is going pretty good. Instead of going to Portland, Oregon to install security systems, I will be going to Toronto, Canada. It’s going to be an interesting experience. I don’t think it’s going to be super hot, which is nice. Since it’s near the Great Lakes, it might be a little humid, but I think I can handle it. I don’t know much about electricity or installing things, but I am sure that I will be able to do my best. I have to start training some more after my play is over.
I am thinking about turning in my 2 weeks notice here at the call center at APX. I did this last year at around the same time before I was an EFY Counselor and it was great. I loved having a few weeks off, but since I will still be going to school, it really won’t be like having a summer vacation. The only benefit is, is that I will be able to train as a technician without having any other conflicts with work. I can do it on my own time, which is something I need to do.

I have lost 23 lbs since I started going back to the gym and trying to eat healthier starting at the beginning of February. So, my goal is to be down to 230 or 225 by April 27th, which is when the season starts for APX Alarm. I think I will be able to do it. It’s hard work, but its rewarding once you start seeing results. The hardest part is the first two weeks, after that…it gets a little easier. But, I have slacked off a bit, so the weight loss isn’t as rapid as it was before. But I am sure that I can get to a healthy weight here pretty soon.

So, before I let you go, here is some advice from a very wise friend of mine, Mr. McFalicaster: “If you ever get caught in a situation that you want to get out of, start screaming for the ‘Purple Doughnut Man of Mars’ to take vengeance on those who put you in this particular pickle to come and save you.” Wise words. Wise words indeed.
