My Friends

When I first heard that I was accepted to BYU, I was ecstatic. I was also a little wary because I knew that I didn't know anyone there. When my mom scheduled all my classes for me, I was a little angry. I couldn't believe that she would choose my classes. She even added me into an acting class! How could she?

I am so grateful that she did.

If my mom hadn't been the wonderful mother that she is, I wouldn't have any friends. Well, maybe that's an exaggeration. I'm sure I would have friends, but the friends that I have made and have now are definitely the right ones for me. I met my best friend Geoffery in my acting class. I also met Katrina, the girl from Thailand. Through Katrina, I met Clarise, Geoff's girlfriend. Through Geoff, I met Adam, one of the craziest people I know. Also, in that same acting class, I met Josh, who is currently serving his mission in the Baltics; Meg, who is sitting at home alone right now; and Sierra, who I wish I could hang out with her more.

But what would have happened to me if my mom had not scheduled my classes for me? I am positive that I would not have met the wonderful friends that I have right now, and for that I am grateful.

Let me share a recent story that happened to my friend Adam.

About 150 yards from my apartment complex is a laundry mat. In that laundry mat is a Back to the Future III pinball machine. Adam and I have dropped lots of money into that game. As Adam played he heart out the other night, nature began to call.

He went into the bathroom in the laundry mat, and as he lifted up the toilet seat, he accidentally knocked the lid from off of the back of the toilet. He put the lid back and finished his business. As he flushed the toilet, he turned off the light and went back to playing the highly addictive pinball machine from Hell.

About ten minutes later, Adam glances over to the bathroom to find that he had been magically transported to a riverside. Actually, there was just a layer of water on the floor next to the bathroom about 2 inches thick. Upon opening the bathroom door, a flood of water rushes out.

As does Adam.

He ran away. It was probably a good thing. No one knows that the water/flood fiasco was his fault. Hopefully the Hispanic owners of the laundry mat don't read this.

I really don't know why I decided to share this story with you all. I love my friends and the trouble that they get themselves into. Spending time with my friends is never dull. Every day is a new adventure. I love them.

P.S. I love you mom for scheduling my acting class. That was a smart move.
