So, the New Year is finally here. I can’t believe that 2008 already came and went. My friend Adam and I were discussing with one another if our year of 2008 was a successful or not. I have decided to come up with a list of the great things that happened to me this past year.
1) I returned home from serving an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Those 2 years were the best of my life. I will never forget the wonderful experiences that I had while serving the Lord.
2) I enrolled and began my education at one of the best universities in the nation, Brigham Young University.
3) I met my dear friends, Katrina, Clarise, Geoffery and Adam.
4) I was cast and performed in three stage productions: The Fantasticks, Once Upon a Mattress and Uneaten Cantaloupe.
5) During the summer, I had the opportunity to help change the lives of the youth of this church. I was an EFY Counselor for one month. What an experience!
6) I went on my first road trip ever with Katrina, Clarise and Geoff. We went to Las Vegas for a day! It was so much fun. The best part wasn’t Vegas, but the way there and back. And that Moroccan restaurant we found in Boulder.
7) I broke my wrist. Because of that experience, I learned more about the Atonement of Jesus Christ than by studying the scriptures. Ask me about that sometime.
8) I was able to be approved to buy my first car. It’s a wonderful blessing.
9) I visited my family two times during 2008. Although it sounds like very little time was spent with them; that time I made memories that I will never forget.
10) I grew up a little more.
Those are some of the milestones that happened to me this past year. Looking back, I guess I can say that I did have an awesome 2008. I was able to do the things that I wanted to do. And I had fun doing them. However, it is now a new year. With a new year come always New Year’s Resolutions. I don’t like to call them that. Instead, they will be called
THE THINGS THAT WILL MAKE 2009 THE BEST YEAR EVER
1) I will be accepted as a film student in the BYU Film Department. Then, I will learn what it takes to become a real filmmaker and hopefully use my talents to bless the lives of others.
2) I will be healthy. No more eating out almost every day with my friends. I will exercise every day that I can, which means every day…except for Sunday. I will lose 60 lbs.
3) I will become a better person. I will read the scriptures more. I will attend the temple. I will attend church. I will try to not judge people.
4) I will go back to Portugal and visit all the dear people that helped bless my life. I will visit New York and maybe Hawai’i also.
5) I will find more opportunities to use my talents for the benefit of other people.
6) I will make a movie that last longer than 45 minutes. And, it will be good, too.
7) I will make a lot of money.
8) I will make connections in the entertainment industry, so that when the day comes that I need to really start my career, it will happen.
9) I will visit my family more often this year.
10) I will become more like the person that God wants me to be.
So, dear friends and family, those are a few of the things that I hope to accomplish this next year. Some of them are vague…well…most of them are. That doesn’t mean that they won’t happen. I will try my hardest to fulfill all the goals written here, so that 2009 will be the best year ever.
I hope that you all have an amazing year. I hope that your list of THINGS THAT WILL MAKE 2009 THE BEST YEAR EVER will really happen.
Have a super happy day!
