In Toronto

Well, friends and family: It's true. I am in Toronto. If anyone has been keeping track of my journey, it has taken about 3 days to get here. On Saturday, one of the main highways was shut down, so I had to make my GPS system find an alternate route to Toronto. I spent the next 1 1/2 hours of my life driving like an old grandma around the small farming communities of Canada. I felt like I was driving in England or something. The roads were bad, narrow, and it was raining like crazy. But, I persisted and finally made it to a highway and then it was smooth sailing from there.

When I finally got into Toronto, I felt like I had stepped back in time. I don't know what it is about foreign countries/places, but they all remind me of Portugal. Toronto is a huge city, which much diversity. I have never seen so many Chinese, African, Indian, French, American, Canadian and Portuguese people all in one place at one time. It really is an experience that I am most grateful for.

Tomorrow, work starts. I begin to install security systems, of which I have only installed one system before. I am nervous. I mean, these are peoples lives in my hands. I don't think that many of the other technicians/sales reps have much faith in me, seeing that it is my first year and that I don't know much of anything regarding electricity/phone lines/installing/drills and all that, so...I guess we shall see how tomorrow goes. I think I will be fine.

I will be getting a Canadian phone with a $50.00/week allowance for phone service. Sorry, everyone...no calls yet. You'll have to wait until the end of the summer.

All in all, I am alive and super excited for this summer. I can't wait! It's going to be an adventure I'll never forget!

Oh, and here's a picture of my apartment living room. Nice.
